As a little child, I love to look at the clouds and dream. Often, I can see beautiful images of animals, trees and waves painted in the sky, hidden away in the clouds... somehow I know Someone loves me so much and created these for me to discover... and slowly I know, He placed dreams in my heart for me to hope, to enjoy and the ability to fulfill...

My Day: Dreams Do Come True!
Today I took a day off from work, decided to give myself a gift - a break. No special plan in mind. Perhaps to sleep late, which I can't possibly do on a normal weekday. Draw and paint a little, when was the last time I paint? Read a book, I think I possibly have 5 new books right next to me that I have yet to read. Play my guitar, which is by now pretty dusty, sitting in a lonely corner in my room. Perhaps, also spend some time with family, go shopping and have lunch....
The above is precisely what I did. Please bear with me today, for this is MY DAY! I just want to give a simple run down of what I did... before I touch on the main gist of it.
Woke up at 9am, with intermittent alarms. (Thanks to all my dear friends and beloved family, I started to receive birthday smses since about 1am....in the wee hours of the night!!!.... Friend, if you are reading this, you should know who you are....) I did a quick count, about 20 smses...not too bad...perhaps you all have more on your birthday... thanks....I hope I replied everyone. How technology connects us these days, though not sure whether this is good or bad.
Talking about painting, perhaps the interest developed when I was about 5, when my teacher commented on my drawing skill... How true in life, that some simple comments one passed could mean a lot to someone when one grew up... or even determine which path one would finally take... the comment did however move me towards the art field...Perhaps I would elaborate more on this next time... This can take a few days’ journals to complete...
Anyway, I took out my watercolor painting kit, truly, it was dusty... I have sort of made up my mind today (friends, please help remind me of this though), to improve my skill in this area... I think watercolor is still better for comics... I am still searching for the media that suits me... some of these are done in photoshop... which media do you think is better?... I finished 2 pieces today... but for now I will post the one done in photoshop... the watercolor piece will be posted on Wednesday, stay tune…
Had a GIANT earthquake, caught a short afternoon nap, read a bit, played guitar... and now I am writing my blog...
Perhaps the greatest surprise I had today was to receive a birthday email from my student. I believe not many of you knew that I was a teacher before... (I taught a Primary 3 class for about 5 months, 7 or 8 years ago). We exchange msn contact and we chatted online, only to find out that she is already in Polytechnic. How time flies! How interesting, it seems almost divine that somehow, someway... some people that you thought you will never meet again will still cross your path...
Anyway, the above is just a simple summary of my day today… nothing spectacular, but to me, the way it goes was what I wanted, (wishing there are 36 hours)… In our busy schedule in life, we tend to miss out some simple pleasures that we used to cherish in the past, fun does not have to be expensive or complicated. Can you remember when was the last time you did what you like? Or do you still keep your childhood hobby, be it stamp collecting, playing a sport such as badminton? What you enjoy doing in the past and re-doing them again is itself a re-discovery of yourself. Do pick up what you enjoy doing in the past again… This is my prayer for you…may you find great joy… Don’t give up on your dream…keep dreaming…because through this way would you always look forward to a BRAND NEW DAY! And surely, DREAMS DO COME TRUE!

I am a TV addict, perhaps, one day I will write about this particular aspect. Meanwhile, this is a comic that I dedicated to 2 friends, one I gave her as a notebook and the other as a birthday card. My most beloved Friend,my Lord Jesus, in the midst... can tell something familiar from this comic? F4? Perhaps it is only familiar to those who watched lots of tv dramas...

My different friends
Today is the National Family Day, where several companies released their staffs earlier for them to have dinners with their families. But I wonder, whoever set the date for such a meaningful event ever anticipated that the 1st day of the Great Singapore Sale would also fall on the same day? And how many people would actually make use of such an opportunity to go for early shopping rather than having dinner with their families?
Haha...You don't have to look around, because I am one of those, who went straight to Orchard after work. However, I do have a very valid reason, I was to meet a dear friend, who initiated to have dinner with me. ( I must have meant a lot to her as she also sacrificed the meaningful day to spend her precious time with me.) She has meant it to be an early birthday treat for me, at the same time, trying to find out what she could get for me as a gift. Perhaps she doesn't know that the time we spent together over meal and the "full of nuts" mudpie would be the best gift she has prepared for me, she has given me her time, a part of her life.
I remembered a few years ago, during my final term in the university, when everyone was rushing for their theses, my dad was in hospital. He passed away about 2 to 3 weeks before the submission date for my thesis. It was a very difficult time, in the midst of sorrow and grief, I was to prepare for my thesis submission. Yet, I can never ever, and will never forget those dear friends I have. To mention a few, my studio peers, who were also in their final race with time to finish up their theses, came to offer their condolences, perhaps they never knew that meant a lot to me, even now as I looked back, thanks pals... Also those bunch of beloved friends, who came late at night with supper (chicken wings and what else?), thanks, you never knew what those little acts meant to me, even now.
Anyway, what was I trying to say? In life, paths meet, relationships form. There are different types of friends, and I appreciate them all, all that cross my path in life now, in the past and those that will cross in the future. There are friends who can bring you joy. There are friends you want to have fun with. There are friends you wish they are there to share the moment when you see something beautiful that touches your heart. There are friends who you turn to and know that they will always be there for you and offer a listening ear. There are friends who will always have a special place in your heart even if they are afar off, though you may not see them for years. There are friends that reminds you of a sweet memory. There are friends who went through thick and thin with you. There are friends you can always trust to offer you a sound advice in time of need. There are friends whose wisdom you depend on. Friends...a Gift from above.
And do you know that, all these attributes of friends are all found in one True Friend that never leaves you nor forsake you, who stay by you forever and forever, even when you disappoint Him, turn away from Him, yet He never let you go... Yet friends, do you all know that each of you shine forth unknowingly some of His attributes in your lives towards me? Thanks, friends, THANKS.

A beautiful sight, however, my illustration could not bring out the actual beauty of it all, so please help me by using a little of your imagination. Initially, not sure what colour to give to the big umbrella in the centre, the one which is presently a dark green... and which is your favourite umbrella? Each tells a story behind it.

Another new day?
The sweetest hours of sleep is when it is raining heavily outside, and one is hidding beneath a warm blanket in the comfort of one's home. I am easily contented with simple pleasure of this form, and this was what it was like this morning.
However, much to my dismay, in the midst of such pleasure, distracting thought awoke me, reminding me of an early morning meeting at the construction site. For those of you who have no idea or have never been to a construction site before, let me offer you a little description. A construction site is at its worst when it is raining. How many of you have friends around you, who are in the construction industry? Especially for a lady? (like me...)
To be honest, one thing I dislike about going to site is to wear inappropriate shoes, not that I am less prepared, but rather, last minute meetings cropped up when you least expected it. Another thing that I dislike is to climb those flimsy looking staircases made out of scalfolds, especially when you have to climb up 5 storeys of those, with little or no handrails....Complaining aside...
On the bus making my way to work today, I saw a beautiful sight, which I have illustrated in the attached little sketch. The point of all these is that, do take note of the things around you, when you have a little time to spare. I saw individuals carrying colourful umbrellas forming a beautiful image. Thank God that despite of the rain and the meeting at the site, He has created a beautiful image for me to behold, for me to enjoy...for me to start my day special. Nothing spectacular...something simple yet beautiful...

Just a lazy evening
Just a lovely evening, after an hour's bus ride, to come home early. It's been a long time since I reach home as early as 5pm on a weekday. (Just in case any of my colleagues or peers happened to read this, and jump to any crazy conclusion, i am on a half day leave today!) Nothing much awaits me, just a crazy thought, why not create a blog?
May is one of my favourite months, not to mention December, cos lots of public holidays, since I am getting wiser by a year this month, just a little token of celebration in this virtual world, create a little space for expression....
Been wanting to really put down some busy schedules, to spend some time building my dreams, allowing them to grow...travel a little, to see the world and have a little break. Perhaps this is the year, and I truly and firmly believe that dreams do come true, so long as we don't give up. So this blog will be the first step, for me to put up some of my "unpolished" comics... and yap, did I mention? I wanted to become an artist or a cartoonist when I was a kid, this is my very first step...
And to all my dear friends and beloved ones, do give me kind but honest comments... to keep me going and inspired.... and thanks, friends, for always being there for me... You all are one of the best gifts PaPa in heaven has given me...
